About Nova Perinatal

Evidence-Based Lactation Support for Families in Gatineau, Outaouais, and Ottawa

Nova Perinatal provides compassionate, evidence-based lactation support for families preparing for breastfeeding and navigating feeding challenges after birth. Services are designed to support parents through both the prenatal and postpartum journey with personalized guidance and practical solutions.

Nova Perinatal is led by Karen Juteau, a Registered Nurse (RN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Certified Birthing Coach with experience supporting families in both hospital labour and delivery settings and community care environments. This background provides a well-rounded understanding of the challenges families may encounter throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early feeding journey, allowing care to be tailored to each family’s unique needs.

Each consultation focuses on understanding the needs of both parent and baby while offering practical strategies, reassurance, and evidence-based guidance that align with each family’s goals.

Families may seek support for many reasons, including preparing for breastfeeding during pregnancy, addressing latch or feeding concerns, navigating milk supply questions, or simply looking for reassurance during the early weeks with a new baby.

Nova Perinatal supports families in Gatineau, the Outaouais region, and Ottawa, with both in-person and virtual consultations available.

My Approach

Supporting growing families

I believe that effective lactation support should be:

  • Evidence-based – grounded in current lactation and infant feeding research
  • Family-centered – respecting each family’s values, goals, and circumstances
  • Compassionate – offering care without judgment or pressure
  • Personalized – tailoring guidance to each parent and baby

As an RN and IBCLC, my goal is to combine clinical knowledge with compassionate care to help families feel supported, confident, and empowered in their feeding journey. My approach is gentle, respectful, and centered around each family’s unique needs and goals. Whether you are preparing for your baby’s arrival or experiencing feeding challenges postpartum, I strive to provide a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where families feel heard and empowered.
